From scare-actors to ofrenda artists, L.A.’s October’s spooky season is back in full force.
Oct. 8, 1:25 p.m.: The Los Angeles Police Department released the names of two people killed by gunfire in Sunday night’s shooting on Wilshire Boulevard.
Oct. 8, 8 p.m.: The National Weather Service issued a severe flood watch for Southern California through the evening of Oct. 8 and into the following day.

Oct. 9, 1:30 a.m.: Los Angeles Police Detective Sgt. Ronald Thomas says the person who died in Sunday night’s shooting was standing on the corner of West 8th Street and Crenshaw Boulevard.
Thomas said that person was later identified as a 40-year-old man, who he described as a transient from nearby Carson, who did not appear to have any prior connections to the area.
Thomas told KTLA the deceased man appeared to have been shot while standing on the corner and that he has no ties to the area. He said that the shooting took place in a residential area of West 8th Street and West Santa Maria Boulevard.
Oct. 11, midnight: Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputies arrested a suspect who they say pulled a gun on three people at a traffic light on the 11600 block of West Pico Boulevard in the Harbor Gateway neighborhood.
The suspect, who was reportedly drunk, said he was defending himself and a friend by shooting at two men who had been yelling and cursing at him, according to a sheriff’s department statement.
The shooting occurred at about 10:40 p.m.
Oct. 11, 10:50 p.m.: A deputy with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said a person shot at a police officer during a foot pursuit in South Gate.
The shooting happened about 11:45 p.m. at the intersection of Wilshire Boulevard and South Broadway, a block from Hollywood Boulevard.
The person fled the location on foot and was arrested a short time later.
