4 Los Angeles County beaches remain under high bacteria warning for at least a week
The National Park Service has issued a bacterial warning for the beaches at Malibu Creek State Park and Laguna Beach State Park through March in the California desert to the east of Los Angeles.
The parks and beaches are not closed, but they will be monitored to ensure the coast is clear of bacteria.
The bacteria warning is in effect for at least one week.
A similar warning is in effect for the Newport Beach and Laguna Beach beaches, though there are no additional bacteria warnings for the California coast east of Los Angeles.
The beaches are open for swimming and diving, but no swimming is allowed after 9 p.m.
The bacteria warning is in effect to protect public health. The Public Health Service advises limiting swimming in water known to be contaminated with fecal bacteria.
