Can Balenciaga Break With Kanye?
The fall-winter 2015-2016 runway collection for Balenciaga, one of the most coveted-and-infamous-by-fashion week and fashion magazines, was a major highlight of the season for the French brand. The collection for each season is named after a muse, and this was the spring/summer 2015 version.
The collection started off the runway in the usual fashion way. A few models stepped out on the runway in Balenciaga’s signature white, while the remaining models stood on a stage facing the models and held their arms out with the trademark Balenciaga purse resting on the arm.
Bag-holders came out one at a time to grab the matching Balenciaga handbag, and as one would place the handbag in the handbag holder, the model wearing the Balenciaga purse would walk away with the handbag in her hand.
The next day, the runway was dressed up with white and black, with the same model on the runway each day. At the end of each runway day, the runway was taken off for the next day’s runway.
By contrast, Balenciaga’s Fall 2015 collection was called, The One That Got Away. The collection was held in the Piazza San Marco in Venice, Italy.
There were no models performing on the runway, but the models were in the fashion. There was no runway behind them.
The fashion was very simple, and a lot of black. The models weren’t wearing anything very exciting, but the clothes were elegant and classic. I never saw a runway without people walking on the models, no one was performing that was special.
